Santa Cruz Play

Santa Cruz Play brings Radio Santa Cruz FM 87.9 to your mobile device, delivering live broadcasts, archived programs and exclusive behind-the-scenes material from Cruz das Almas. Santa Cruz Play is designed for listeners who want simple, reliable access to local culture, regional music and community conversation whether at home or on the go. The app connects you directly to the station’s schedule and special segments so you can follow events, discover artists and participate in polls and feedback sessions that shape programming.

Listening experience and controls

The app offers real-time streaming of Radio Santa Cruz FM 87.9 with familiar playback controls that make listening intuitive: play, pause and seek within on-demand segments, background audio support so the show continues while you use other apps, and lock-screen controls for quick access. Program pages present current and upcoming show information, so you can easily see what’s airing and set reminders for community broadcasts you don’t want to miss. Touch-based navigation and clear labeling reduce friction for new users and make it straightforward to switch between live radio and archived content.

On-demand archives and progression

Archived shows and special segments are organized so listeners can progress through episodes in a natural way: recent programs appear at the top, with longer-running series grouped together to help you catch up episode by episode. Each archived item includes a brief program description and timestamp markers when available, making it easier to skip to interviews, music sets or feature reports. This structure supports casual replay and deeper exploration alike, offering repeat value for standout interviews and musical performances.

Content discovery and personalization

Santa Cruz Play includes features to help you discover regional artists and themed programming without overwhelming menus. Curated collections highlight local festivals, cultural initiatives and artist spotlights, while simple personalization tools let you mark favorite shows and artists so the app surfaces related content over time. Notifications and in-app announcements keep you informed about live events and station initiatives, and the interface is built to keep discovery organic rather than driven by aggressive promotion.

Community interaction and contribution

Engagement features reflect the station’s community mission: interactive polls and listener feedback tools invite audience input on programming and local topics, and the app provides clear channels for sending messages or show ideas to producers. Behind-the-scenes content gives context to on-air segments, introducing hosts and contributors and highlighting the people behind community events. These options are designed to strengthen the connection between listeners and the region’s cultural life without demanding constant participation.

Visual design and accessibility

The visual style emphasizes readability and regional identity, with program artwork and artist photos used to enrich the listening experience while keeping the interface uncluttered. Font sizes and contrast are chosen to support accessibility, and navigation is organized around a small number of clearly labeled sections to reduce cognitive load. Where available, show notes and summaries support comprehension for listeners who prefer a written overview before or after playback.

Performance, offline considerations and device compatibility

Santa Cruz Play is optimized for stable streaming on typical mobile networks and reduces data use by adapting stream quality to connection conditions. On-demand content is buffered for smoother playback and can be resumed from the point where you left off, improving replay value for longer segments. The app is compatible with common Android device controls and preserves playback when switching between apps, providing a consistent experience across phones and tablets.

Replay value and editorial approach

Replay value comes from curated series, featured artist spotlights and community event coverage that capture seasonal and cultural moments of Cruz das Almas. The station’s editorial approach emphasizes local perspectives and cultural preservation, rather than chasing national trends, so listeners who seek in-depth regional coverage will find ongoing value in the app’s catalog of programs and special segments.

About the team
