Introduction
CGN Tours is an audio guide app that brings the story of Lake Geneva to life, offering narrated commentary timed for passengers cruising the lake and explaining the history and highlights of Geneva, Lausanne, Vevey, Montreux and the Château de Chillon while guiding listeners through the terraced vineyards of Lavaux, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Key Features
CGN Tours provides location-aware audio commentary intended to be enjoyed from a boat, adding context as you pass landmarks and pointing out historical details and points of interest. Coverage includes Geneva, Lausanne, Vevey, Montreux and the Château de Chillon, with dedicated segments about the Lavaux terraces and their UNESCO designation. The app also offers short profiles of the CGN Belle Epoque fleet that describe each vessel's history, engine and saloon, and the narration is recorded for clarity so it complements sightseeing without distracting from the view.
Advantages
CGN Tours enhances sightseeing by supplying background stories that bring landmarks and landscapes to life, making a cruise more informative without requiring guidebooks. It is useful for both first-time visitors and locals who want a deeper appreciation of the lake and its towns, and the combination of historical detail and boat-related anecdotes provides an engaging onboard experience while allowing you to focus on the scenery.
Disadvantages
The app's content is focused on the Lake Geneva shoreline and nearby towns, so it is not a general-purpose travel guide, and CGN Tours delivers its best experience aboard a boat, which limits its usefulness for purely land-based sightseeing. It does not replace the interactivity of a live guide for real-time questions or personalized answers.
