Introduction
SkyPasada rethinks conventional airline scheduling by introducing a circuit-based approach that links landing destinations into continuous loops called pasadas. SkyPasada adapts the Philippine jeepney concept, where each stopover can become a new origin, into a practical tool for route planning and operational design, allowing planners and carriers to explore circular flight sequences as an alternative to single-origin hub transfers.
Key Features
SkyPasada implements circuit scheduling to connect landing destinations into repeatable loops, allowing teams to visualize chained connections and plan sequences that return to prior stops. The design treats every stopover as a viable departure point, mirroring the pasada idea and offering flexible routing alternatives beyond traditional hub-and-spoke patterns. The app focuses on schedule visualization, sequence planning and consideration of operational constraints without prescribing specific commercial arrangements.
Advantages
By enabling circular service patterns, SkyPasada can increase network flexibility and reveal opportunities for more direct links between secondary destinations. The approach encourages creative scheduling that can reduce reliance on a single hub and make layovers more functional by treating them as potential departures, while keeping coordination and resource needs visible to planners.
Disadvantages
Adoption depends on carriers' willingness to shift from established hub-and-spoke operations, which may be resisted for commercial or regulatory reasons. Operational complexity can increase as schedules move from centralized hubs to interconnected loops, requiring careful coordination, resource planning and clear procedures to manage connections and ground operations.
