Destiny 2 Hints at Upcoming Raids and Dungeons Plans
Destiny 2 will maintain its schedule of releasing one raid each year, alongside plans for a new dungeon activity next year. Additionally, a new "Feats" system will be introduced to enhance customization and difficulty in raids, ultimately improving the rewards players can earn. Each major update will also feature a challenge update to ensure that the new raid content remains engaging and fresh for players.
Bungie Reveals Future Plans for Destiny 2's Endgame Content
Bungie has shared new details about its upcoming plans for Destiny 2, specifically regarding Codename: Frontiers and the roadmap for raid and dungeon releases in 2025. In a blog post earlier this September, the developer outlined two major expansions, codenamed "Apollo" and "Behemoth," which will introduce a variety of new content as the game transitions from the decade-long Light and Dark saga concluded with The Final Shape.
Game Director Tyson Green emphasized the need for Destiny to evolve, hinting that next year could bring significant changes to the gameplay formula. Instead of just one annual update, Destiny 2 will receive two major expansions in 2025, with the first set to launch in the summer and the second in the winter. Players can also anticipate four major updates and reward passes throughout the year.
In the latest This Week In Destiny blog post, Bungie confirmed that Destiny 2 will continue to feature one new raid each year, coinciding with the first expansion of each year. Additionally, a new "Feats" system will enhance difficulty customization for each raid, allowing players to select from various optional modifiers that increase challenges and improve rewards.
Destiny 2's Strategy for Maximizing Annual Raid Releases
The new Feats system in Destiny 2 is set to replace the current raid difficulty and challenge mechanics. Each major update following a raid's release will include a "challenge update," designed to keep raid activities engaging by introducing new rewards, mechanics, Feats, and potentially entirely new encounters. This approach aims to enhance the longevity of raid content after its initial launch.
In addition to raids, Destiny 2 will feature a new dungeon activity next year as part of the second expansion for 2025, codenamed Behemoth. Bungie has announced that Dungeon Keys will be eliminated, and players can expect a greater variety of loot from each new dungeon, which is intended to be comparable to the rewards typically found in raids.
